Students continue to adapt to home learning. The Home Learning Hubs on each of the school websites offer support, resources and guidance, while staff and students continue to work remotely.
ARENA ACADEMY
We had an amazing response to Arena Academy’s laptop appeal. Each of these laptops represents a child that can access their learning from home.
A huge thank you to all who have donated or loaned. If you can help too, please contact Arena Academy.
Please see Arena’s video from Head Student Ambassador.
It was Arena Academy, Horizons Festival Campaign Day last week. You can learn about their campaign journey and join them by making a pledge here: arena-birmingham.academy/our-pledge/
CITY ACADEMY
City Academy had a really active week with the PE Department highlighting their home learning successes. Over 400 students watched an online fitness workout led by Mr Kelly. The students gave 100% effort!
We also saw some great form-time activities.
JEWELLERY QUARTER ACADEMY
KS4 English students participated in a ‘Shakespeare Masterclass’ from @unibirmingham. Thanks to Peter and Eleanor for an enlightening session.
Last week also saw a community focus from Team JQA. Thank you to the team at JQBID, and Woolly Mammoth Stitch Works for 50 student ‘Jewellery Quarter Poppies’ kits. Jewellery Quarter Academy will be running workshops this week. Remembrance and love ALL year-round from JQA.
It was also wonderful to see students, who are in school, working together with @JQBID to plant snowdrops in Key Hill cemetery.
ROCKWOOD ACADEMY
Rockwood Academy’s second campaign day saw them honour the testimony of Ann Kirk and embark on a new partnership with Hodge Hill Arts Forum. We look forward to seeing the opportunities this brings the students of Rockwood Academy.
On World Aids Day, red ribbons were sold to students. The money raised was donated to the National Aids Trust.
National Aids Trust thank Rockwood for their donation:
“Your donation made a massive difference. It will help us tackle head on the effect COVID-19 has on people living with HIV, support people experiencing discrimination and fight for HIV rights”
