Bridging the gaps at Arena Academy

Arena Academy have built a catch-up period into the timetable, where students receive additional tuition and support. They are in the process of summarising any gaps or concerns into individual student reports, which are shared with parents.

World Food Day
Friday 16th October was World Food Day and Arena Academy had a special treat in the canteen for their students, Caribbean food!
Food donations were also collected all week for the Great Barr Foodbank. Form groups were in competition to collect the most donations – in total, over 1000 items were generously donated.
City Academy and City of Birmingham Rockets
On Wednesday, City Academy were joined by BBC Midlands Today to celebrate becoming the first specialist basketball academy in the UK, thanks to the launch of an exclusive partnership with the Birmingham Rockets.

Delivering a CORE Education
Anika, a Year 8 student at City Academy, couldn’t speak English 4 years ago. Anika now speaks 4 languages and is working hard to achieve her dream of becoming an astronaut.
Virtual Open Week
Recently Virtual Open Week events have been hosted by each of our schools, last week was Jewellery Quarter Academy’s turn.
We saw students take over their twitter account, talking to their peers and teachers about what makes ‘JQA’ a great place to learn.
Year 11 Accelerate
Talented Year 11 artists have produced exquisitely detailed, lifelike portraits during their catch-up ‘Accelerate’ lessons.
We hope that many go on to study the Arts at post-16 level.
Combined cadet forces
Rockwood Academy were privileged to virtually welcome Brigadier Stuart Williams OBE for their awards ceremony, celebrating the Level 2 Award for Young Leaders.

Beacon School Quality Mark plaque
We are incredibly pleased to have Rockwood Academy receive their Beacon School, Quality Mark plaque to proudly display. We place high importance on Holocaust education in our schools, and recognition such as this solidifies the efforts of staff and students.
Rockwood applied and underwent the review process in the Summer. The quality mark recognises Rockwood’s exemplary Holocaust education, and the accreditation process explored the details of every aspect of Rockwood’s genocide curriculum.
